The Xia Nai Index of Egyptian Beads in The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology

These web-pages present the first publication of one of the most valuable archival holdings in the Petrie Museum, the index card catalogue of an uniquely important asset unique in Egyptian archaeology, the typological collection of beads, spanning 5000BC-AD1000. The card catalogue, comprising 1,760 entries, was created in 1938-1939 by the renowned Chinese archaeologist Xia Nai, as the foundation of his University of London PhD Ancient Egyptian Beads (publication 2012 by the Beijing Institute of Archaeology).
